Come support an Industrial Safety Ordinance for Benicia, the only refinery town that doesn’t have one! At its next meeting, the city council will have another opportunity to direct staff to review a proposed ordinance that protects the safety of its residents. It would ensure that Benicia has in place a network of air monitors, and a robust emergency response plan.
The council will be reconsidering their previous decision to kick the can down the road. Councilmen Schwartzman, Hughes and Campbell voted at the last hearing to postpone this important decision until after the November election, while Patterson and Young wanted to move forward now. This is a chance for the Terrible Three to get it right. If you can’t attend, please email the City Council.
