Stand with the youth and elders of the refinery corridor to protest the recent cap-and-trade extension that endangers all Bay Area frontline communities. Tell our elected leaders who voted for AB 398 that our home is not a sacrifice zone!
We’ll be holding the space in front of the State Building for at least 50 minutes, or 3,000 seconds, to symbolize the 3,000 expected premature deaths that will be caused by a switch to tar sands in our local refineries. Cap-and-trade, with its program of credits and allowances, will not prevent a switch to dirtier oil refining. Only capping refinery emissions at current levels—and subsequent pollution controls—can prevent this loss of human life.
Come join us!
