Need help with writing comments for the environmental review of the Phillip 66 and Marathon renewable diesel proposals? Ann Alexander, Senior Attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), will lead a workshop on how to write effective comments for submission to Contra Costa County, the project decider. She’ll offer background on the projects and map out those areas where members of the public—and the County—have not yet received adequate information from the project applicants, information that we’re legally entitled to have.
The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) provides for extensive public and agency input into the review of projects deemed to have significant environmental impacts. CEQA is a great tool for promoting transparency and preventing significant, avoidable environmental damage. It is also extremely tricky to navigate if you’re a non-specialist. This session should give participants a better grasp of CEQA categories, and assist us in responding directly within their parameters.
This session will also enable you to better utilize these handy templates for comments on both projects. Keep in mind that comments are always much better in your own words.
Comments are due by 4 PM on December 17.
