Come tell county officials: When Contra Costa takes control of our electricity from PG&E, we want our new Community Choice Energy system to generate clean energy right here, building our economy and providing family-supporting jobs. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, Contra Costa has the capacity to generate three times as much electricity as the county uses, by building wind, solar, and other clean-energy facilities.
The Department of Conservation and Development will provide an opportunity for residents to weigh in on the future direction of CCE at a public workshop on May 18. Residents will be able to give feedback on the Request for Proposals for a consultant who will do a technical feasibility study for Community Choice Energy. The RFP will be the first official description of how the county wants its electricity agency to operate.
The Contra Costa Clean Energy Initiative is calling everyone concerned about local clean energy, good local jobs, and environmental and social justice to come and make your voice heard.
