Oil companies should pay for plugging their abandoned wells. Not only is this well remediation badly needed, but it will also “provide tremendous health and environmental benefits to frontline communities, and advance a just transition away from fossil fuels.” Another utopian proposal from an environmental justice group? Nope. The authors of this statement are none other than LA-based United Steelworkers Local 675, the state’s major refinery operators workers union local.
