The San Francisco Green Film Festival is back! This year’s nine days of films and discussions features 60 new and acclaimed films from the environmental frontlines. (69% of the feature films are made by female directors). Meet with over 100 filmmakers and special guests from all over the world, including China, South Africa, Italy and Brazil.
The Green Film Festival is involved with over 70 non-profit partners to connect audiences to campaigns and causes. Sunflower Alliance is proud to be one of those partners, and is very excited to co-sponsor showings of Warrior Women, (Sept. 8th), The Human Element (Sept. 9th), and The Condor and the Eagle (closing night premiere at the Castro Theater, Sept. 13).
The directors of The Condor and the Eagle, Sophie and Clément Guerra, will be present at this first screening. At the start of their filmmaking journey, they spent much time in the Bay Area refinery corridor doing portraits of local activists and documenting acts of local resistance. It will be good to show them a warm welcome back and celebrate the birth of this, their first film.
The Condor and the Eagle summary:
Four Indigenous leaders (Casey Camp-Horinek, Yudith Nieto, Melina Laboucan-Massimo, and Bryan Parras) embark on an extraordinary trans-continental adventure from the Canadian plains to deep into the heart of the Amazonian jungle to unite the peoples of North and South America and deepen the meaning of “Climate Justice.” Their path through the jungle takes them on an unexpectedly challenging and liberating journey, which will forever change their attachment to the Earth and one another.
