Come to the Vallejo City Council hearing to support neighbors fighting a proposed cement plant and deep-water port in an already over-polluted community. Fresh Air Vallejo has been fighting for many years to stop this climate and environmental justice disaster.
The proposed cement plant and port — along with diesel emissions from the trucks and trains it would require — would release huge amounts of pollution and greenhouse gases into South/Central Vallejo. The California Department of Justice has declared the project environmentally unjust. And Baykeeper, the Sierra Club, and others warn that a new deep-water port could become a site for exporting coal.
After postponing its decision on this project for two years to get more information, the city council will finally hold another hearing. They need to hear a strong message: reject this project and promote waterfront development that brings good, healthy jobs for all skill levels, creates affordable housing, brings South Vallejo a grocery store!
Thursday, May 30, 5 – 11:55 PM (come early for a seat)
555 Santa Clara St., Vallejo
And/or write to the city council members to tell them to reject this proposal that’s so destructive to the community and the planet.
