The Economic Justice Team of Indivisible Berkeley is lobbying to get the City of Berkeley to pass a resolution that calls for divestment from Wells Fargo Bank and moving the city’s money to other, more community-sustaining financial institutions. They’re urging the city to develop socially responsible banking criteria—and to consider joining a Public Bank of Oakland.
A Resolution is being drafted that will be introduced, and probably voted on, at the April 25th Berkeley City Council meeting.
Please plan to come out to the meeting to support passage of the Wells Fargo divestment resolution. After all, it’s Berkeley! Let Mayor Arrequin and Council member Maio know you appreciate their support for this sensible financial move.
