One major fight with the Air District has been to get reliable air quality monitoring in frontline communities, independent of the refineries. The passage of Rule 12-15 has been the district’s response to this pressure. BAAQMD will now be holding a series of community workshops to present their plans for community-based air monitoring.
The first workshops in Richmond and Martinez will be followed by sessions on March 1st in Rodeo and March 5th in Benicia. This is an opportunity to evaluate and where necessary challenge the Air District’s plans.
Meeting details can be found in the attached flyer.
