On Rosa Parks’ birthday, join an online rally and call-in action to support transit riders and workers, as well as the national movement to expand public transit — to make it more accessible and cheaper, to replace our unsustainable dependence on private, fossil-fueled transportation, and to lift up the good, green, union jobs that public transit requiresTransit Equity Day is a national collaborative effort of climate and social justice organizations and unions to promote public transit as a civil right and as a strategy to combat climate change and bring about a Green New Deal centered in social justice.
Labor Network for Sustainability initiated Transit Equity Day in 2018. Gathering on February 4th, Rosa Parks’ birthday, we honor her act of resistance on public transit, highlighting the rights of all people to high-quality public transportation powered by clean/renewable energy.
Our local Bay Area Transit Equity Day Online Rally is organized by Genesis in collaboration with 350 Bay Area; East Bay and San Francisco Democratic Socialists of America; Sierra Club Bay Chapter; Triple Justice,; Wellstone Democratic Club; and members of unions, and climate and social justice organizations.
