Our good friends and allies in the Asian-Pacific Environmental Network’s “Our Power” campaign are excited to announce this year’s 3rd annual Our Power Festival on August 12, 2017 from 12 PM – 3 PM at Nicholl Park (on Macdonald Ave near Richmond Civic Center).
This festival is a safe and open space to celebrate the way Richmond shines with a bike-powered concert, free food, community resources and fun.
Bring the family and friends out, learn how community organizations are transforming the way we think and live around clean air and water, locally-sourced agriculture, clean renewable energy, bike-friendly streets, meaningful work, and sustainable living.
This year’s festival is organized around the anniversary of the 2012 Chevron Explosion, when 15,000 people rushed to the hospital in the aftermath. It’s a reminder both that such incidents are still happening every year, and that Richmond is more than Chevron. This festival is for our local health and wealth. We are building our foundation for the future. Fossil fuels that pollute us and the planet are not the future for our communities.
