Climate Change from the Streets—Dr. Méndez and Eduardo Garcia, March 1

February 19, 2022

Please join Earthjustice for a Tuesday morning virtual chat with Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia, chair of the Utilities and Energy Committee and Dr. Michael Méndez, author of the award-winning book, Climate Change from the Streets: How Conflict and Collaboration Strengthen the Environmental Justice Movement  (Yale University Press).

Dr. Méndez will highlight key findings from his book which chronicles how issues of race, class, economies, and scale influenced the development of climate policy and how the changing demographics of the state legislature contributed to the shift as well.

This forward-looking discussion centers frontline communities and examines the legacy of race and class to better understand the development of climate policy in California.
