Come hear Contra Costa County’s new Economic Development Manager, Amalia Cunningham, speak about the Northern Waterfront Economic Development Initiative (NWEDI), which covers a 50-mile stretch along the Contra Costa shoreline from Hercules to Oakley.
Cunningham is the new County Staff person in charge of bringing jobs to Contra Costa, the second most industrialized county in California. This is an important opportunity to hear about NWEDI, how it is being implemented, and its potential impacts on East County communities and the larger Bay Area. The Board of Supervisors launched the initiative in 2013.
Supervisor Federal Glover, whose district includes the waterfront area, has said that “The Northern Waterfront has historically been the center of most of the County’s manufacturing and industrial output. It is important that we enhance the waterfront to improve our economic base. At the same time, we must balance that with environmental, recreation and transportation needs.” Let’s make sure that reindustrialization of the waterfront promotes clean energy development and green jobs.
The event is sponsored by the East County Community Leaders Network. The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm with a complimentary dinner served prior to presentation. In order to have a good count of attendees, please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Organizers will be following up by phone or email if you need more information.
