The full line-up can be found here.
Sunflower Alliance is a partner of Green Film Fest and is proud to be co-sponsoring an exciting new documentary, RISE: Standing Rock (Michelle Latimer, Canada, 2016, 110 min). This is part of a Viceland docuseries which examines contemporary indigenous life and gives viewers a rare glimpse into the front line of indigenous-led resistance. This program includes two episodes: Sacred Water: Standing Rock, Part I and Red Power: Standing Rock, Part II.
The film, a winner of the 2017 Best Feature Award, documents the pan-tribal resistance at Standing Rock to the Dakota Access Pipeline. The powerful alliance of women that rose up in the face of brutal police power brings inspiration and hope to all struggling people. Mni wiconi—water is life!
There will be a discussion with director Michelle Latimer after the screening.
