Please lend your financial support to the amazing community members of Brentwood mobilizing to stop proposed oil and gas drilling only 700–1100 feet from their homes and within half a mile of an elementary school!
Imagine how it would feel if your own community were suddenly in the cross hairs of the oil industry and you found yourself on the brink of a lengthy and costly fight to maintain your health and safety. Brentwood residents need our help in securing professional services to help them defeat this assault on their community and our planet. They will be incurring big expenses in order to secure the right professional services to assist them, and we need to be behind them every step of the way. They cannot do this alone.
Please chip in whatever you can to help this frontline community defeat this dangerous project. An assault on one is an assault on all.
This is the Bay Area, folks. Are we going to let this happen in our own backyard?
Indiana-based PowerDrive Oil and Gas Company, LLC—partnered with Brentwood-based Sunset Exploration—has applied to Contra Cost County for permission to first drill three exploratory oil and gas wells in unincorporated Brentwood, and then to install permanent rigs if “commercial quantities” are discovered. The project involves installation of a gas pipeline that will extend under the city of Antioch. County planners are currently reviewing the volumes of public comment they received.
