Come and be inspired by young people who are demanding strong and immediate action against climate catastrophe.
Young people all over the world, including the Bay Area, have been walking out of school demanding climate action, echoing messages from Swedish 15-year-old Greta Thunberg.
“I don’t want you to hope. I want you to panic. I want you to act as if the house is on fire. Because it is.”
—Greta Thunberg
Four years ago a group of 21 youth all under the age of 23 sued the federal government for failing to protect their future from climate catastrophe. This case, called the Children’s Trust, is still in court.
In the Bay Area, Youth vs Apocalypse, sponsored by 350 Bay Area, has organized a regional movement of middle- and high-school student climate activists.
And the Sunrise Movement has helped focus media attention on the Green New Deal.
Speakers from the youth climate movement will lead a discussion on the future of climate activism:
Isha Clarke, Student Activist
Sarah Goody, Student Activist
Julia Olson, Executive Director, Our Children’s Trust; Chief Legal Counsel for Plaintiffs in Juliana v. U.S.
Ben Wessel, Youth Vote Director, NextGen America
Morissa Zuckerman, Coordinator, Sunrise Movement (Bay Area Chapter)
Greg Dalton, Founder and Host, Climate One
