Please join us as we gather to remember our dear brother Steve Nadel, a treasured and tireless fighter for peace and environmental and social justice for decades. We lost Steve last fall but wanted to wait until we could gather in person to support each other in our loss.
Steve’s passion, big heart, strategic insight, and determination continue to be an inspiration to us all. Some of us remember working with him way back in the days of the Nuclear Freeze movement, Concord Naval Weapons Station protests, and Livermore Action Group.
More recently, Steve was a founding and core member of Sunflower Alliance. As a key actor in the Bay Area Air Quality Management District network, he devoted years to careful analysis of Air District policies and actions, mobilizing the public in a series of challenging campaigns to move air regulators in a more righteous direction. He was also an active member of 350 Bay Area and provided major ongoing behind-the-scenes support to the Bay Area’s Climate Emergency Mobilization Task Force.
With a long professional background in the material sciences, Steve was uniquely suited for translating obscure technical issues into transformational political action. Beyond those special contributions, he was treasured as a wise, calm, steady, and caring member of our activist community.
