The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has been a rubber stamp for the fossil fuel industry. Beyond Extreme Energy (BXE) has long campaigned to replace the FERC with a FREC — Federal Renewable Energy Commission. And Congressional support for this switch has been growing.
Biden’s new FERC chair, Richard Glick, is making some reforms, including the creation of an Office of Public Participation — 43 years after that was mandated by Congress! But BXE says that after decades of corruption and serving the fossil fuel industry, FERC can’t be reformed from within.
Join an online summit that will examine BXE’s current visions of FREC, proposals from Congress, and what frontline groups envision.
Breakout groups will tackle different specific issues in how the new commission would work. With a commitment that all its operations will be rooted in environmental justice, community control, and decarbonization.
