Stand with frontline Bakersfield communities!
Join a rally on Wednesday July 13th at 12:00pm at FDR Park in Sacramento to bring environmental justice demands directly to the doorsteps of the California Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM)! RSVP here!
A coalition of EJ activists and Central Valley groups is calling on ALL ALLIES to join them and pack CalGEM headquarters to show our community’s strength. Together, we’re taking action in the name of public health and standing up to the delays and mismanagement that jeopardize frontline communities. It’s been too long since CalGEM has shown any progress working to create health and safety setbacks.
Why the urgency? Last week, a desk monitoring scandal erupted that reveals how CalGEM has neglected to accurately monitor any of the state’s thousands of leaking oil wells. Read PBS news coverage here, and detailed info from CalGEM here. CalGEM opted for “remote monitoring,” putting millions at risk for negative health outcomes. By taking the fight directly to CalGEM, we’ll remind them they’re accountable to the people of California, and make sure the press knows about it, too.
RSVP here to join and get transportation from the Bay Area. (Be sure to sign up by Tuesday noon if you need a ride.) Support frontline communities standing up for justice and an end to neighborhood drilling and leaking wells statewide.
