The hydrogen production plant being proposed for Pittsburg (and possibly another one in Rodeo) would use a process called pyrolysis (high heat without oxygen so it’s not actual combustion) to get energy from “organic municipal waste.” This process is being touted as a climate “solution” because organic material emits carbon dioxide as it decays naturally.
But this “solution” is full of dangers for surrounding communities, the environment, and the climate.
Now we have a chance to learn more about what it means.
Break Free From Plastic is hosting an in-depth conversation on Pyrolosis, Combustion, and the Clean Air Act. They will talk about how this issue is connected to the ongoing industry push to undermine federal regulations that protect public health from the burning of waste.
