Our breaking hearts go out to all of our fellow Californians, including our colleagues in the climate movement, who have lost their homes, livelihoods, and lives in this recent round of apocalyptic fires. Every breath we take of the smoky air choking the Bay Area reminds us of our collective fragility, and the terrible suffering those who’ve been displaced are enduring. Here are some relief efforts that could use our help:
North Valley Community Foundation fund in Chico supports the needs of the evacuation centers that have opened their doors to house fire victims who lost their homes or had to evacuate.
The Chico Enterprise-Record has published a list of various ways to donate to local Butte County relief efforts.
KQED has compiled a useful page of links to many donation sites.
The Sierra Club has established a fund for wildfire victims across the state.
GoFundMe has a roundup of personal fundraising campaigns to help California victims in the north and the south.
